One and a half years after the beginning of the pandemic, a documentary audio piece was created from numerous interviews on forms of isolation and loneliness. Here, everyday life and experiences, fears and hopes, as well as the daydreams with which the Leipzigers interviewed have escaped from their four walls in recent months are given a voice. Combined with performative elements, the students in 5 ROOMS | 4 WALLS link questions of the cultural workers' own life reality. The stage arrangement already promises a particularly impressive atmosphere: five low-barrier glass cabins offer space for a total of four spectators per performance. Separated by a pane of glass, not only the experience of closeness and distance is negotiated, but also the conditions and possibilities of art are reflected upon.
5 ROOMS | 4 WALLS is a joint project of students from the University of Music und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” Leipzig, the University of Fine Arts Dresden, the University Merseburg and the Academy for Performing Arts Baden-Württemberg.
The students Leona Bert, Charlotte Haselon, Tabea Mewis, Sophie León Pellegrin and Julia Scholz regard themselves as a collective.
